Advancing the Field of Transpersonal Psychology through Research, Education, and Innovation
Dr. Glenn Hartelius has significantly shaped transpersonal psychology through pioneering research, influential publications, and education. His work has established states of consciousness as central to the field, and as Director of the Attention Strategies Institute, he collaborates to develop empirical tools for measuring internal states like mindfulness. Alongside his partner, Michaela Aizer, he co-authored The Anatomy of Presence, a guide to achieving transformative states.
Over nearly two decades, Dr. Hartelius has elevated the International Journal of Transpersonal Studiesfrom fewer than 100 subscribers to the largest transpersonal journal, with over 50,000 readers. As Editor-in-Chief, he secured Scopus indexing, expanding the field’s academic recognition.
In education, Dr. Hartelius has created doctoral programs that prepare students to contribute to transpersonal psychology. He founded a program at the California Institute of Integral Studies and a doctoral concentration at the California Institute for Human Science, integrating neuroscience research and online training modules.
